Our Authors - Tony Squires

Tony

Tony has been a highly successful and regular corporate entertainer and speaker over a number of years as well as one of Australia's most popular media personalities. He has a wealth of experience in roles including Master of Ceremonies, Guest Speaker or Quiz Master.

Tony's media related background, which includes hosting major live television shows and extensive radio work, provides potential corporate clients with many unique and entertaining options.

On television, after taking The Fat from the ABC to Seven, where he fronted 110% Tony Squires and hosted the network’s Athens Olympic coverage, he anchored the network’s coverage of the One Day Cricket series in England with Stuart MacGill and Kerry O'Keeffe. As well as these premium television events, he has also hosted major events for the Network such as the Edinburgh Military Tattoo.

Tony has been a journalist for 20 years - much of that time was spent at the SMH as a feature writer, columnist and section editor. He edited the Guide for a number of years as well as being deputy editor of the sports section. He wrote a popular weekly television column before getting his own head on the box.

He currently writes a weekly column about popular culture in the Sunday Telegraph newspaper.

Originally from Newcastle, Tony has worked on stage, music, radio and television with a number of his Novocastrian mates, including Mikey Robins, Steve "the Sandman" Abbott and John Doyle, occasionally known as Roy Slaven.

As a critic - he failed in his acting audition for NIDA and vowed to destroy the careers of all other actors - Tony was offered a regular spot judging the short films in the ABC's popular Race Around The World.

From there, he created a show for Foxtel's arena channel, reviewing and yammering on about television. Inside the Arena was live-to-air television talking about television. Basically, Tony never needed to get off his couch.

Tony's newest book is Cracking the Codes.
